Winter changes....

WINTER CHANGES

There are many changes in the winter, from how short our days become to how we stay in our homes more often, to changing up our music. It seems like there is constant change around us, even when we don't realize it. Often times we don't even think about some of the changes we make like eating warmer foods in the winter, taking hotter showers and using MORE and thicker lotion on our
body than we thought it could hold.

So, with that being said, what happens to our hair? Well, there are changes with that too.
Did you know that your hair drys out and becomes frizzy in the winter too. In the summer our cuticle opens up outdoors and takes in moisture from humidity or sweat. In the winter the cuticle of the hair remains closed outdoors therefore not able to take in moisture. Indoors, there are heaters and hotter showers, we don't think about, that open up the cuticle which "wa la," gives us dry hair. It is fine to leave a little, and I mean little, conditioner in our hair while rinsing it out to help with this problem, especially if you already suffer with dry hair. Also we can use leave-in conditioners. But always be sure to use a heat protectant to help with frizz. Wear hats or scarfs over your hair to protect from the wind, rain or snow (if not in a tropical area or Arizona, ha).

Let's talk about blondes🙂. Blonde hair is a MUST for good healthy care. It can be dry and brittle already. Some ideas for taking extra care is switching up that shampoo to an oil base. It is a little heavier but more moisturize in the winter; most hair can handle it. Do conditioning treatments, maybe even once a week. Your hair will love you back for this. Last tip, for all hair, is invest in a humidifier. Added moisture in the home will do wonders for not only our hair but our breathing as well.

Protect, protect, protect always!!!
